The Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic) of Barcelona is one of Europe's best preserved medieval city centers. The area abounds with churches, beautiful squares (plazas) and historical monuments.
The tour starts at Plaça Catalunya then you will walk in La Rambla and visit in the Raval Quarter, where you will see remains of the area that in the middle ages was outside the city walls. Here you will see the ancient Hospital de Sant Pau (now it houses the National Library) and the Boquería Market.
Walk through the Petrixol street to Santa María del Pi, through the Call (the historic Jewish Quarter) and visit the Cathedral of Barcelona. Hereafter you will see the King's Square (Plaça del Rei) where Columbus was welcomed back from America on March 15th 1493 and the Born Quarter with Santa María del Mar.
