The Alhambra Palace is without a doubt one of the fascinating sights in Europe. On this tour you will visit alhambra with a certified guide.
Alhambra, this beautiful palace and fortress, was originally constructed as a small fortress in 889 and renovated and rebuilt in the mid 11th century by the Berber king Badis ben Habus of the Kingdom of Granada, who built its current palace and walls. In 1333 the Sultan of Granada, Yusuf I, converted it into a royal palace, and up to 1492 it was refined by The Nasrid Emirs (Kings). Today it is one of Spain's major attractions, exhibiting the country's most significant Arab-Islamic collection of architecture. The Alhambra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Nasrid Palaces consists of several palaces built during the 14th Century. There are mainly three parts: Mexuar, Serallo, and the Harem. The Mexuar is modest in decor and houses the functional areas for conducting business and administration. Serallo contains the Patio de los Arrayanes (Court of the Myrtles). Lastly, the Harem is elaborately decorated and contains the living quarters for the wives and mistresses of the Berber monarchs.
Generalife consists of the Patio de la Acequi, its long pool framed by flowerbeds, fountains, colonnades and pavilions and the Sultana's Garden. Originally the palace was linked to the Alhambra by a covered walkway across the ravine that now divides them. The Generalife is one of the oldest surviving Moorish gardens.
