On our Full Day Toledo & Winery Tour you will experience the beautiful city of Toledo from Madrid and visit the the wonderful winery Finca Loranque, where you will taste typical wines from the area. Toledo has a unique location on the top of a rock and beneath the city runs the Tajo River. The city is surrounded by the National Park Cabañeros, and close by you will find the 15 meters high waterfall “El Chorro”, also worth a visit.
Toledo is known as the the city of three cultures: in Toledo Christians, Muslims and Jews were living side by side for centuries during the middle ages. Under the Visigoths, it was even Spain's capital - a period that lasted until the Moors conquered the city in the beginning of the 8th century. Before that, under the Romans, the city had been an administrative center due to its strategic location. In 1940 Toledo was declared a national monumental city.
Toledo is full of beautiful sights. Among them, the gothic cathedral from the 13. century, Santa Maria la Blance which is the oldest synagogue in Europe still intact, and the Greco Museum are highligts. But you will also see the Alcazár fortress and other historic churches, mosques and synagogues.
The vast amount of artistic styles in the old part of town form an "open-air museum" that has been declared World Heritage by UNESCO. When it comes to restaurants, Toledo has many excellent offers. We recommend the excellent Hierbabuena restaurant that serves a delicious menu with excellent views of Toledo's city center. The restaurant is recommended in the Michelin guide.
On the way to Toledo from Madrid, we will visit Finca Loranque, a unique family run bodega located in a valley surrounded by hills covered with olive trees, oaks and thyme. Their top wine, Loranque el Grande, has been praised in both Spanish and International wine magazines. At Finca Loranque you will both visit the cellars, hear about the production and of course tasting their three different wines.
