During this walking tour, we will show you the most important and historical building from the Middle Ages. We start our tour at the charming Zocodover Square, passing by Arco de la Sangre and Santa Cruz Museum; the building dates from the 16th Century and is a mix of Gothic and Renaissance styles. You can admire on its gallery paintings from the famous artist the Grecos and Goya. At the highest point in the City, is the famous Alcazar of Toledo, built in the 10th Century as a fortress and then converted into a Royal palace for Carlos I. Enjoy the magnificent and incomparable views over the city and the Tajo River.
We carry on to The Tornerias Mesquite and to the Cathedral, which reflects the significance of the Catholics in Spain. Dates from the 13th Century and is probably the best example of the Gothic style in the country. After admiring this master piece, we head to the Taller del Moro Museum (famous for its Mudejar architecture style), to Contemporary Arts Museum (another Mudejar building from the 16th Century) and the San Roman Church, which is an impressive mixture of Mudejar and Renaissance styles. Do not miss the oldest Monastery in Toledo, Santo Domingo El Antiguo.
We continue to the wonderful Santo Tome Church, which houses the famous painting by The Greco, The burial of the Count of Orgaz. The Church was built in the 12th Century and its tower is Mudejar style. In the heart of Toledo´s old Jewish Quarter we find the Transito Synagogue, built in 1355 and is worth visiting for its interesting and amazing Mudejar decoration, particularly in the main prayer hall. A few metres from here, is the Santa Maria La Blanca Synagogue built in Almohade style and characteristic for its arches.
Our final stop if San Juan de los Reyes Monastery. This wonderful building is one of the most light-filled churches in the city and is notable for its gorgeous cloisters. It was founded to demonstrate the power of the Catholic faith in Spain.
